Got off the plane 2 hours later than my flight was supposed to land. Bit annoyed I didn’t have a window seat as the view looked quite stunning the from centre aisle seat peering over some German kid’s shoulder.

I got off and I started to get serious. Will my backpack be at baggage claim? I kept thinking I need to keep a clean head. No point flipping out now. I was in the queue for immigration and I could the baggage claim just beyond it. The conveyor belt spun and bags started appearing. I keep a watchful eye at all times, tip toeing if I have to, just to get a better angle to see what the next bag is. I pass through immigration, like I would have a problem anyway ha! Then its a waiting game. I don’t speak and Spanish and if I don’t get my bag, its gonna get even more disastrous. The conveyor belt stops a few times, not quite sure why but I see a black bag that might be mine. I go take a look and omg lol its FUCKING MINE! WOOO! All the woes at Heathrow are now washed away. Over the past year or so I have tried to not let stress linger in my head. I’m lucky I’ve done this as if I had worried for 11 hours and didn’t get my bag, I’ll be an emotional wreck.

Happy and excited I have a huge smile on my face. No one knows why but I don’t have the language skills to explain why a British Chinese guy is grinning like a dog on weed walking around Cancun airport. I pass through customs and hope Naz is waiting for me outside.

The exit is literally a massive pavement that lead quickly to a turn in the road with many tourist companies offering their services. I look around and think,

Naz, nay fucking hay bin dow ah?

In English that translates to , Naz, where the fucking hell are you? Looks like I gotta make this trip solo. Gotta get a bus as the hostel is only 100 metres down the road from the bus terminal. I walk down the front of the airport and don’t see any bus stop or anything. Gotta cab it then. I end up getting a shuttle bus with 6 other Mexicans. We stop off at their respective hostels. Huge monumental buildings they were. It made me think, shit, Cancun is too rich for my tastes.

I finally end up at the hostel. As soon as I pull up I can see naz sitting outside with a few other guests. He greets me on the street and go upstairs to the room. I shake his hand and give him a massive hug.

We fucking made it
